Request an application form for instrumental tuition, which will provide
the information you require specific to your college.
Fees apply to the learning of a musical instrument. While the services
of the instrumental teacher are paid by the Department, you will be
required to pay an administrative fee, plus the cost of hiring the
instrument. In addition, students are required to purchase a music tutor
book, and other essentials as required, such as reeds for woodwind
instruments, and replacement strings from time to time on guitars and
other stringed instruments. Percussion players are required to own their
own drumsticks. These costs vary from college to college, and from
instrument to instrument, but typically, a student who hires an
instrument might expect to pay between $150 and $250 for a year’s
tuition.
